Resinous Flooring

Epoxy, Polyurethane & Acrylic Resinous Flooring

The Iron Pony is a top-tier installer of high-performance resinous floor systems for commercial projects in the DC Metro region, recognized for our consistency and ability to continually offer innovative products to the market.

Installed in commercial environments, resinous flooring is durable and provides a non-permeable chemical shield over a concrete floor. This makes it an ideal choice for parking garages, large warehouses, food and pharmaceutical plants, manufacturing and industrial applications, shop floors, broadcast floors, and areas where chemical or acid exposure is likely. Because liquids cannot permeate the surface, resinous flooring is often used in parking decks to keep water from migrating from one deck to the next, or to keep chemicals from spreading.

When texture is added to the surface, resinous flooring is also ideal for corridors in commercial buildings, data centers, parking decks, loading docks, and areas where flooring may become slippery.

Types of resinous flooring:

  • Epoxy
  • Epoxy resinous flooring, the most widely used, is resistant to solvents, oils, chemicals, mineral and organic acids, alkalis and salts, and provides a hard, high-gloss and abrasive-resistant finish that protects the underlying concrete base.
  • Polyurethane
  • Polyurethane resinous flooring is more elastic than epoxy, is resistant to heat and high temperatures, and offers higher impact absorption.
  • Acrylic (PMMA)
  • Acrylic resinous flooring (polymethyl methacrylate), sometimes called “acrylic glass,” provides a smooth, customizable and long-lasting finish with a fast installation and cure time for minimum downtime.

Benefits of resinous flooring:

  • Chemical and abrasion resistant
  • Non-porous for moisture control
  • Durable and long-wearing with minimal maintenance
  • Electrostatic dissipative (ESD)
  • Meets USDA approval
  • Withstands thermal shock/temperature shifts
  • Low cost
  • Non-slip surface textures available
